As a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD), my goal is to assist women on their journey to conceive, during pregnancy, and postpartum to manage their emotional needs through medication management. With training from Postpartum Support International (PSI), I provide specialized expertise in addressing psychiatric disorders that women often face when becoming a mother.
As a mother of two, my journey into motherhood was far from idyllic. With the onset of symptoms during my pregnancy, I suffered tremendously with postpartum depression, anxiety, and OCD. Due to my career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I struggled to become the patient, let go of control, and accept my diagnosis. With the guidance of therapists, prescribers, and other specialized programs, I have recovered and dedicated my career to help women that continue to suffer.
My approach is to provide medication recommendations and prescribing as well as the monitoring of potential medical issues that may contribute to psychiatric symptoms. Through patient education, a compassionate therapeutic approach, as well as personal experience, I look forward to supporting women to create a pregnancy and postpartum period filled with joy and an immeasurable bond with their babies.
